June 29, 2024

Fortis Fitness Studio | Mary Esther, FL

Introducing Twisted Metal an unsanctioned deadlift only competition coming to Fortis June 29, 2024 starting at 10am sharp.

We wanted to celebrate a huge milestone for Joel, one of the co-owners of Fortis, as it will be the 30 year anniversary of his spinal fusion.

26 June 1994 Joel was involved in a training accident, while serving in the Marines, which caused in a burst fracture of the L2 vertebrae. This resulted in two 13in parabolic rods being used to fuse to his spine from T10-L3. Over the past few years, Joel has made it a goal to deadlift 500lbs and we figured what better time and place to do it than at Fortis on this milestone anniversary!

This event will be run like a deadlift only powerlifting meet, but it will not be a sanctioned event.

$50 entry fee due at registration and you will also be able to pre order a limited edition T-Shirt for an additional $20.

Cash prizes will be up for grabs as well as a raffle for the competitors. In addition a portion of the proceeds will be going to a charity of Joel’s choice.

There will be 30 slots available in the beginning. If the spots fill up we may open a waitlist and potentially add more spots.

We will be using a Texas Deadlift Bar and kilos for all deadlifts and they must be performed to competition standards. Singlets optional, deadlift socks required and of course, no straps 😈
